San Diego

Trying to beat the heat, we went to San Diego for a few days before school starts on Monday. We had a fun time at the zoo and the beach. In Jocie's words, "I liked the zoo, but I loved the beach." That describes our kids through and through. Though the San Diego zoo is amazing, with out of this world flowers, plants, and animals, to our family there is nothing like playing on the beach. Add the beautiful San Diego weather into the mix, and we were in heaven.

Jocie figured out first that if she planted her feet she wouldn't move. She told us she was surfboarding.

Maren coming in from a great wave. The waves were awesome the day we were at the beach. We picked just the right day. And look, no wet suits this trip.

Blake loved running in and picking up shells and rocks when the surf would recede. We had to keep an eye on him as he would see something he wanted and go for it. He is FAST!

Jocie didn't like picking up the rocks and shells as much as she liked trying to stand up when the waves would come in.

They had a real helicopter that the kids could sit in at the zoo. Jocie wasn't to sure, but since Blake did it, she did.
