We had a wonderful trip to California this past week. Rich, Kaylin, Maren, and I went to Carlsbad and Anaheim with Rich's sister Lori's family. The twins had their own separate vacation at the Beatty's in Bullhead City, Arizona. (In other words, we ditched them and went without them)
First of all...it was extremely strange to not have the babies with us. We got up when we wanted, I didn't have to change a single diaper, and we were able to be on the go and enjoy all day without nap breaks etc.
We left Sunday and headed for Carlsbad, CA (which is right outside of San Diego). We learned a great lesson. If you leave Vegas on Sunday...leave before the weekend travelers heading back to California. I wasn't sure we were going to make it in time to pick up Lori, Stu, and Megan from the airport. Luckily, we found a detour, and after 45 minutes of bumper to bumper we were crusing on again.
Our hotel was perfect, we were right on the beach. Our first full day, we headed out to LegoLand. It is a great place for kids around7-10 years of age. Maren enjoyed all of it and Kaylin and Megan were good sports and let her have her fun. Our favorite part was the "Mini-Land" that had different US locations made out of Legos. Of course, we had to take a picture in front of the "Vegas Strip."
